Rice Krispie Treats

Classic Rice Krispie Treats featuring buttery marshmallow bars that melt in your mouth, with a delightful contrast of soft marshmallow and crispy rice.

  • 6 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1/4 Tsp Kosher Salt
  • 2/3 Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk (5 Oz)
  • 12 Oz Mini Marshmallows
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 7 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal (7 Oz)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan. Spray a 9 by 13 inch pan with butter cooking spray or line it with parchment.
  2. Melt the butter and salt. In a large pot over medium heat, add the butter and salt. Stir gently as the butter melts.
  3. Add the sweetened condensed milk. Pour the condensed milk into the melted butter and stir until smooth.
  4. Melt the marshmallows. Add mini marshmallows to the pot and stir continuously until melted, then remove from heat.
  5. Stir in vanilla. Add vanilla extract and stir just until combined.
  6. Fold in the cereal. Pour Rice Krispie cereal into the marshmallow mixture and mix gently until coated.
  7. Press into the pan. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press gently and evenly into the pan.
  8. Cool and cut. Let the pan cool at room temperature for one hour, then cut into squares.

Notes

For a chewier edge, press gently into the pan. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
