Mozzarella Garlic Butter Chicken Bowties in Cheesy Cream

A cozy, indulgent weeknight dinner of tender chicken breasts and al dente bowtie pasta in a creamy mozzarella garlic sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts, whole
  • 8 oz bowtie pasta
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside. Reserve a splash of the pasta cooking water.
  2. Melt the butter over medium heat in a skillet. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned on both sides and cooked through, then remove, slice, and set aside.
  4. Pour the heavy cream into the same skillet and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Combine the cooked pasta and sliced chicken back into the skillet, tossing gently to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add the reserved pasta water a tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Serve the pasta warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature chicken. Grate your own mozzarella for better melting.
