M&M Chocolate Chip Bars

Delicious, chewy bars loaded with colorful M&Ms and melty chocolate chips, perfect for any occasion.

  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/4 cups mini or regular-size M&Ms
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Mix the melted butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla to the mixture and mix until glossy.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and stir just until combined.
  6. Fold in M&Ms and chocolate chips, saving some for the top.
  7. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and press it evenly.
  8. Bake for 26 to 30 minutes until lightly browned and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in the pan for at least one hour before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a chewier texture, bake closer to 26 minutes. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
