  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar, beating until creamy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. If using, fold in chocolate chips gently.
  6. Drop rounded balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until tops are set but centers are soft. Cool to achieve chewy texture.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle with sea salt before baking or customize with walnuts for extra crunch.
