Mozzarella Garlic Butter Chicken Bowties in Cheesy Cream

A cozy, crowd-pleasing pasta dinner that combines chicken, garlic, and a rich creamy sauce with bowtie pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, chopped or sliced
  • 1 lb bowtie pasta
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare and season the chicken by patting it dry with paper towels, then drizzling with olive oil and sprinkling with seasonings.
  2. Cook the chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat until golden brown and cooked through, about 6 to 8 minutes.
  3. Cook the bowtie pasta in a pot of salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and reserve a bit of pasta water.
  4. Sauté the garlic in the same skillet just until fragrant, careful not to brown it.
  5. Whisk together cream cheese and heavy cream in a small bowl until smooth.
  6. Build the sauce by adding chicken broth and the cream mixture to the skillet, stirring continuously until slightly thickened.
  7. Melt in the mozzarella cheese, stirring until smooth.
  8. Combine the cooked chicken and bowtie pasta with the sauce.
  9. Serve immediately, optionally topping with extra mozzarella.

Notes

For best results, reserve pasta water to adjust sauce consistency. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
