Cream Cheese Danishes

Indulge in these flaky, buttery Cream Cheese Danishes filled with a tangy cream cheese mix and topped with your choice of jam or chocolate chips. Perfect for breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, slightly thawed
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1/2 cup jam, jelly, or chocolate chips
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. Beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth. Then mix in the egg yolk, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. Cut the pastry into 4×4 inch squares and prick the centers with a fork to prevent them from puffing during baking.
  4. Whisk together the egg white and water in a small bowl. Brush the edges of each pastry square with this egg wash.
  5. Spoon cream cheese filling onto the center of each pastry square, then top with your choice of jam, jelly, or chocolate chips.
  6. Place the filled pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until they are golden brown and flaky.
  7. Whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a bowl until smooth to create the glaze while the Danishes are baking.
  8. Allow the Danishes to cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over them for a sweet finish.

Notes

Tips: Ensure puff pastry is slightly thawed and chilled for easy rolling. Add more milk if the filling is too thick. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
