Cheesy Pizza Ravioli Bake

A comforting casserole featuring Italian sausage, zesty marinara, and gooey mozzarella cheese wrapped in tender cheese ravioli.

  • 450 grams Italian sausage
  • 700 milliliters marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 200 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 65 grams chopped bacon
  • Pepperoni slices, as desired
  • 710 grams frozen cheese ravioli

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare the vegetables: Dice the yellow onion and chop the bacon into small pieces if it isn’t pre-chopped.
  3. Sauté the onions: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes until it turns translucent.
  4. Brown the sausage: Add the Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook while breaking it up with a spoon until it’s browned throughout. If there is excess grease, drain it off.
  5. Season the mixture: Stir in the Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
  6. Add the sauce and meats: Pour in the marinara sauce and add the chopped bacon along with any desired pepperoni slices. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  7. Combine with ravioli: Stir in the frozen cheese ravioli to the skillet mixture until evenly coated.
  8. Transfer to a baking dish: Pour the entire mixture into a large baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top. If desired, add extra bacon or pepperoni slices.
  9. Bake with cover: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Broil to finish: Remove the foil and place the dish under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes, until the topping is golden and crisp.
  11. Serve: Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy this delightful meal warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. This dish can be frozen before baking.
