Air Fryer Lava Cake

A warm, chocolatey lava cake with a crisp exterior and gooey molten center made easily in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C).
  2. Combine the dark chocolate chips and unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave in 15 to 20 second bursts, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.
  4. Stir in the powdered sugar until well combined and slightly cooled.
  5. Add the eggs and egg yolks, whisking until glossy and thickened.
  6. Incorporate the vanilla extract, then fold in the flour and salt until just combined.
  7. Grease small ramekins with butter or nonstick spray, and fill each halfway with batter.
  8. Place the ramekins in the air fryer basket and cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Cool for a minute, then carefully invert each onto a plate and serve warm.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs for a smoother batter. Store baked lava cakes in airtight containers for up to 2 days.
