Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt, then gradually add to the butter-sugar mixture until just combined.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll the chilled dough into small balls or use cookie cutters to create shapes.
  7. Place cookies on a lined baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are light golden brown.
  9. Let cookies cool on a wire rack.

Notes
