  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
  7. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll them into balls, and coat in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Place the coated balls on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
