Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Pan: Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add Granulated Sugar: Turn off the heat, stir in the granulated sugar until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and vanilla extract. Gradually pour in the melted butter mixture and fold until no dry spots remain.
  5. Press into Pan: Transfer the dough into the lined baking dish and press firmly to keep shape.
  6. Make the Topping: Whisk together powdered sugar and warm water to achieve a thick glaze-like consistency. Pour over the cooled bars.
  7. Chill and Cut: Refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set, then lift out and cut into squares.
