Million Dollar Pound Cake

A deliciously rich pound cake with a golden crust and a soft, dense interior that melts in your mouth.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease your loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the dry mixture and sour cream to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture; mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Can also be frozen for up to three months.
