Homemade Alfredo Sauce

A creamy and rich sauce that’s perfect for pasta, elevating any dish to gourmet status.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to foam and turns light golden.
  2. Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Let it simmer gently for 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  3. If using, add minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until fully melted and smooth, adding more cream or pasta water if too thick.
  5. Taste and season with salt and pepper, adding a pinch of nutmeg if desired.
  6. Serve immediately over your favorite pasta and enjoy!

Notes

Use freshly grated cheese for the best texture and flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
