Hearty Homecoming: Bolognese and Shells

A comforting bowl of baked pasta shells filled with a rich Bolognese sauce, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

  • 12 oz Pasta Shells
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 oz Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 Carrot, diced
  • 1 stalk Celery, diced
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until just under al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until onion is translucent, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high, add ground beef, and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for at least 15-20 minutes.
  5. Gently fold the cooked pasta shells into the meat sauce.
  6. Transfer mixture into a baking dish and top with shredded Parmesan cheese.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes and enjoy.

Notes

This dish pairs well with a side salad and garlic bread. It can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
