Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks

A warm and savory dish featuring seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and caramelized onions in crispy hoagie rolls, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (or your choice)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil (for sautéing)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced onions (and bell peppers, if using). Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and begin to caramelize.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet with the sautéed onions. Break it apart with your spatula and cook for about 5-7 minutes, continuously stirring, until it’s browned and cooked through.
  3. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the beef mixture to taste, letting it cook for another minute.
  4. Lower the heat, place the slices of cheese evenly over the beef, and cover the skillet for about 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  5. Lay the hoagie rolls cut side up on a baking sheet and toast them under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Fill each hoagie roll generously with the cheesy beef mixture and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider topping with jalapeños, fresh parsley, or hot sauce. Customize with different veggies or proteins as desired.
