German Chocolate Poke Cake Squares

A delightful poke cake infused with classic German chocolate flavors, featuring a moist chocolate base, rich caramel, and a chewy coconut and pecan topping.

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients listed on the box
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
  • 1 jar caramel sauce (12 ounces)
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tub whipped topping (8 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven as directed on the cake mix box. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan or line it with parchment for easy removal.
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake batter according to the package directions and pour into the prepared pan. Bake as directed.
  3. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes.
  4. Poke holes all over the cake, spacing them about 1 inch apart, ensuring the holes are deep.
  5. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake.
  6. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the cake.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded coconut and chopped pecans evenly over the caramel.
  8. Cool the cake completely at room temperature.
  9. Spread the whipped topping evenly over the cooled cake. Drizzle the chocolate syrup over the whipped topping.
  10. Chill for at least 120 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

To achieve clean squares, chill well before cutting with a warm knife.
