Easiest Vanilla French Beignets

Fluffy and indulgent beignets, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, covered in powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently until it just comes together.
  4. Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop small amounts of dough into the hot oil, careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the beignets to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Dust the warm beignets with powdered sugar before serving.
