Ingredients
Scale
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Slowly add the softened butter, milk, and egg, mixing until a sticky dough forms—about 5 minutes of kneading until soft and elastic.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and place it in a warm area for about 30 minutes to allow the dough to rise until doubled in size.
Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough into a rectangular shape (about 12×15 inches) with a thickness of 1/4 inch.
Sprinkle chocolate chips and ground cinnamon over the rolled-out dough, gently pressing the filling to stick.
Roll the dough tightly from one long end to the opposite side to form a log, then slice into 12 equal pieces.
Place the rolls on a lined baking sheet, leaving space for expansion, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until puffed and slightly firm.
While the rolls are still warm, whisk together the glaze ingredients until smooth and drizzle over the rolls before serving.
Notes
These rolls are best served warm and can be made ahead of time.
