Cheese Danish Delight

A delightful Danish pastry with a flaky puff pastry exterior and a creamy, sweet cream cheese filling, perfect for brunch or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness.
  3. In a bowl, blend cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Cut the rolled pastry into 4-inch squares.
  5. Place a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture at the center of each pastry square. Brush the edges with egg wash, fold corners toward the center, and pinch to seal.
  6. Place pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a fruity variation, consider adding berries to the cream cheese filling.
