Chai Sugar Cookies

A delightful twist on classic sugar cookies, infused with the warming spices of chai.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg (or 1 flaxseed egg)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 2 teaspoons chai spice blend (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl for about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg to the mixture and beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, chai spice blend, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add to the wet mixture until no flour streaks remain.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough and roll into balls, placing them on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges turn golden brown.
  7. Allow cookies to cool on a baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a kid-friendly version, reduce the spice content slightly and decorate with colorful sprinkles.
